It means, "no matter wat, dun kan suai me.. "

in english,

"no matter wat, dun look down on me.."

To Mahwarrior> correct me if possible..

AndrewPKYap SG

Thanks for the explanation. I mean I don't get it in relation to the topic. Does it mean that "elites" are or should be gracious / good humored / compassionate people because they have so much?

The "elites" in Sgp behave more like frustrated coolies while they are working under the hot sun? That these "coolies" when they are drinking stout with their buddies behave in a less frus manner than the so-called "elites"?

This is just my interpretation of what "mahawarrior" is trying to say. I am probably wrong. Embarassed

Probably u're misunderstanding mahawarrior on wat he's gonna say.. But 1 thing is for sure, dun ever let other people think that u "kan suai" them.. People usually dun really like..

Answering to the red question, "elites" can be anything.. It depends on how u look at it.. For example, if i mention ITE, wat's ur 1st impression on them?? For me, "elites" can be good in humor and really based on reality...

Cheers,

Well, actually what I meant was, the so call 'meritocratic' policy of Singapore has led to the rise of the 'elites' (such as our famous blogger, Ms XXX) who certainly look down on 'low-class' people like the 'non-elite leeches'. More often than not, these elites have got rich and influence parents (for example, having a certain post in a certain political arena).

Rather ironic isn't it?

It also refers to the increasingly proud attitude of young Singaporeans, not wanting to associate themselves with 'low-class' people and places when the actions of they themselves are much lower than 'low-class' can get.

AndrewPKYap SG

The irony I can see is that if they are "elites" because their parents are "having a certain post in a certain political arena" they should be ashamed of themselves. I don't see how people "having a certain post in a certain political arena" in Singapore can take any pride in themselves. I think CSJ has exposed them fully and is continuing to expose them for what they are.

AndrewPKYap SG

The phrase “Go and prosper” in Singapore means; “I want you to prosper but I also want to try my best to take away as much of your money as possible!”
